Mention my name and almost all the competitors within the UFTA field trial community know who I am. For those outside the circuit, just call me “Sadie”. I was born in the early hours of July-25-2005, along with eight other brothers and sisters. I stood out early as a puppy and soon became Kenny’s pick of the litter. I have always been gifted with what some call natural ability, so hunting has always been easy for me. I began to point at a real early age and by six weeks old I was rock solid on point. It was only a wing on a string but those early steady points, is what earned me my home here at GunRunner Kennels.
What is my best quality? (I guess if I can only choose one), I would have to say my best quality is my nose! When the wind is calm or if a field has turned to poor scenting conditions, that is when I shine the most. I’m easy to handle and I always cover the ground with my head held high. Then when I do hit the scent cone of a quail, I slam on the brakes and display some of the most stylish points you will ever witness. I’m very steady on point and when the bird is bagged my retrieving is always flawless. I’m an avid upland field trialer and we regularlly travel accross the southeast looking for events where I can showcase my tallents.
In Febuary 2006, I finally got a chance to showcase my ability at the UFTA Amateur Nationals. This trial brought together 75 of the best dogs from all over the country and no one gave me much hope at doing well. This was the largest event I had ever competed in and needless to say, I turned heads when I brought back home to Alabama the National Reserve Champion’s trophy. I have had some other great finishes since that day in 2006. However; winning that first National Reserve Champions trophy will always be something very special to both Kenny and me!!!
